April 15th, 2017 started out warm and breezy (which would have easily been a blizzard or a flood based on Kentucky’s spring weather track record). Katy showed up to the farm in Chacos and colored sunglasses, walking down the gravel drive as white table clothes danced in the wind on tables in front of the house. Luke met her behind a barn on his family's property, also sporting Chacos, sunglasses and khaki shorts for a first look and the rest of the day was effortless from there.

The day was filled with personality and endearing moments. Katy’s brother Gus officiated the ceremony, where the pair sealed the deal with rubber Groove wedding bands and kept things light and fun with, β€œ I do-do!”. Wedding guests included family and groups of friends from throughout their lives. There was food truck pizza from the Rolling Oven, breaking a cookie instead of cutting the cake, barefoot sunset portraits with lots of skipping, group dancing to 4-H camp classics, incredibly thoughtful toasts from childhood friends Sarah and Jim and the night closed out with craft beers and a family tradition on Luke’s side.

The day was non-traditional in many ways and unapologetically them. As a close friend of Katy’s since we were 14, I couldn’t have pictured the day any other way. I’m so happy you found such a wonderful person to share your life with! <3

This celebration was over two decades in the making. From childhood friends to unrequited crushes on each other at different times- these two have a love story that they make movies about. Luke + Katy, I hope you love these memories from your wedding day and that your future is full of vacations to Folly Beach, S.C. all the beers on Untappd and some more Chaco wearing family members ;)

And now… photos! :)
