Commonwealth Stadium Wedding | Guy + Kate

Guy and Kate met while working for the University of Kentucky Athletics department. Ironically- it was a lack of athleticism that first connected the two. They played on a kickball team together when one day Guy hurt his knee and Kate was super sweet to him. That’s when he knew she was the one for him!

It took Kate a little more convincing to accept his date invitations, but she finally agreed. The rest, as they say, is history! Guy proposed to Kate over a home cooked meal in the house they now share together. Although their schedules with UK Athletics keep them apart more than they’d like, the two love to travel together, brunch and spend time with their families.

On January 14th, 2017, on a rainy and unseasonably warm day, the two became husband and wife at Christ the King Cathedral, down the street from Guy’s home- the place they’ll eventually walk with their children for Sunday services. Incredibly sweet!

Their wedding day was filled was sweet gifts and personal touches, including a white fur shawl that Guy had embroidered for Kate. It was also the largest the wedding I’ve ever personally photographed, a testament to how incredibly caring and loved both Guy and Kate are! The only venue big enough to hold all their loved ones? Commonwealth Stadium! The unique and newly renovated Woodford Reserve Room was a perfect backdrop for their celebration. The band Superfecta entertained well into the night, electrifying the dance floor with guests adorned in glow necklaces. Even the grandparents had to join! The entire day was truly such a blast and I am honored to have been able to document it.
