Caldwell That Ends Well | Aaron + Raven
Oh where to begin.
If it’s possible to have a crush on a couple, I think I might just have one on these two. Both smart, incredibly witty, and hilarious to boot- Aaron + Raven met in the bro-iest of bars while both temporarily living in Milwaukee. Between the two of them they have now had addresses in ten different states, they both love IPAs, chose mountains over beaches and can get very competitive over a game of Settlers of Catan. The center of their lives (or at least Raven’s) are their cats Arthur and Stanley (though only one got a shoutout during the vows… don’t tell!) and spending time together exploring their relatively new home of Denver, CO, though they have their hearts set on living abroad sometime in the future.
Aaron + Raven are a pair endlessly full of comedic stories- so naturally their wedding day had some wonderfully entertaining touches. The day was May 6th, 2017- derby day in Kentucky but just a regular ‘ol Saturday in Morrison, Colorado. The sun rose bright and early over the plains to the east, filling Willow Ridge Manor in Morrison with warmth as tables were set and preparations began. Their 10am ceremony was filled with tear jerkers and roaring laughter alike, followed by cocktails and a brunch of waffles and egg concoctions (this meal may or may not have significantly influenced my couple crush). Instead of cake they served pie, instead of a bouquet or garter they threw a bulldog pillow and instead of favors they passed out snacks to encourage their guests to take an afternoon hike.
Seriously though, their schedule of events was wonderful and I’ll be singing the praises to couples for years to come. The brunch ceremony and reception concluded by 3pm, allowing time for a hike/ nap in the afternoon. At 7 or 8pm they invited everyone back out to a nearby bar/restaurant for drinks, heavy appetitizers and socializing in comfy clothes with no formal events (unless you consider the passing around of Aaron’s pink fur coat from Goodwill a formal event). The next day they invited anyone still in town out to a local brewery to again socialize with no formal events. It was one of the most enjoyable wedding weekends I’ve ever been part of. Their family and friends love to laugh, mostly at Raven’s expense, which made it extra fun to photograph- as you’ll be bale to gather from some of the photos.
Aaron + Raven- you are both delightful human beings with a pretty rad mix of family and friends that make up your inner circle. Thank you SO much for welcoming me in with open arms and extending an invitation to all the events for your wedding weekend. I am so honored to have been part of it and hope that you love the was it was documented. <3
